Because there is no agreed definition of the condition and prior research on manual therapy for it has been mixed, this systematic review pooled 17 randomised clinical trials published over the past 10 years to look at whether manual therapy improves pain, function, and range of motion. Across these trials, manual therapy was reported as effective for symptoms related to cervical radiculopathy, regardless of which technique or dose was used, though effects were generally described in the short term. The review could not determine which specific technique works best for cases confirmed by nerve conduction testing, and the authors noted that inconsistent definitions of radiculopathy and non-standardised manual therapy techniques across studies limit how confidently these findings can be interpreted.
